We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. This person will be responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll process. This includes the day to day management of payroll related data, payroll processing for bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required as the Payroll Specialist will interact with internal staff, outside agencies, and management on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:

  • Process new hire paperwork; verifying that paperwork is complete and accurate
  • Enter new hires into the payroll system
  • Manage payroll related data necessary to process payroll and achieve zero error
  • Review all employee data changes before processing payroll and / or benefits enrollments
  • Audit and review all processed payroll for accuracy and compliance
  • Research and resolve all tax inquiries from local, state and federal entities.
  • Generate, develop and customize reports
  • Collects and analyzes data to report on HR metrics as they relate to payroll
  • Enter and audit employee changes
  • Ensure communication and resolution of all employee pay/benefit related questions in timely and accurate manner
  • Benefits administration including enrollment facilitation
  • Year-End W2 and W2-C processing

Qualifications of the Payroll Specialist:

  • Previous Accounting experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of current experience processing full cycle, multi-state in-house payroll
  • CPA preferred
  • High level of confidentiality required
  • Proven superior communication skills – must be able to communicate technical payroll items to non-payroll employees verbally or in writing in a concise manner
  • Large (1,000 employees or more) corporate in-house payroll experience
  • Knowledge of payroll laws, regulations and practices is a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Experience using Paycom or ADP preferred
  • Knowledge of all types of leaves of absences (FMLA, LOA, Military).
  • Strong technical skills – with a strong emphasis on Excel
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently yet is a team player
  • Willingness to travel
  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Proven ability to successfully prioritize multiple tasks and customers in a fast paced human resources environment

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
