ATLANTA, GA – July 17, 2013 – Ebix, Inc. (NASDAQ: EBIX), a leading international supplier of On-Demand software and E-commerce services to the insurance industry, today announced that its subsidiary Ebix Latin America has executed a contract with Telefonica/Vivo mobile telecommunications company, to provide health content to its large client base in Brazil, using Ebix’s A.D.A.M. Health Content Exchange.
Telefonica/Vivo is the largest telecommunications company
in Brazil, with more than 90 million active client users, 76 million of those
in the mobile operation alone, which holds the largest market share in the segment
(29.56%) within the Brazilian market context. In 2011, with the acquisition
of Vivo, Telefonica established itself as the largest integrated operator in
Brazil, both by number of clients as well as by size of revenues. The company
belongs to the Spanish group Telefonica, one of the largest landline and mobile
Telecom operators in Europe, besides being the largest in Spain and Latin America.
This opportunity came about because Telefonica/Vivo worldwide has started a new business called “eHealth Self Care” to provide health assistance and complementary services to their millions of clients. This division is being structured worldwide since 2011.
Based on conservative estimates, the deployment is expected
to be initiated with a projection of up to 1.2 million unique users on a monthly
basis. However, this figure is expected to grow sizably as additional millions
of unique visitors get access to the eHealth Portal in Brazil, in addition to
the strong potential for subsequent adoption of the Ebix Portal solution by
other Latin American and European countries where Telefonica is present.
Camila Crispiniano, Leader of eHealth Self Care for Telefonica/Vivo in Brazil said, “Our partnership with Ebix just came as a perfect fit and a natural addition to the differentiated health related products and services which are part of the offerings by Telefônica/Vivo eHealth to our clients in Brazil. I am confident about the value which will be added by A.D.A.M. Health & Wellness portfolio of products to our vast client base.”
Camila added, “I am excited that Telefonica will be a pioneer in proving the success of this solution to millions of mobile users in Brazil, while at the same time establishing a global model for replication and adoption by other markets where Telefonica is present”.
Mario Nogueira, SVP and Division Head for Ebix Latin America,
said: “We are very proud about this important relationship with a strong
consumer brand such as Telefônica/Vivo. This will certainly represent
a key reference for Ebix Insurance and Health products in Latin America, while
strengthening our presence in the region. We continue to be excited about cross-selling
the vast portfolio of Ebix products in the Latin American markets”.
The Content Exchange solution for Telefonica/Vivo is expected to go live in Brazil in Q4 of 2013.
