Client story Lending

Ebix Solution implemented — Indus / Ebix Lending Suite

A lending decision before the customer leaves the counter

A published lending implementation reports five-minute sanction decisions for eligible straight-through consumer-durable applications.

Anonymized account of a deployment reported by IBS Intelligence. The standard system went live in April 2019. The five-minute result applies to straight-through consumer-durable customers, not all loans or disbursements.

Speed at the point of application

A diversified lender needed to support multiple portfolios while connecting applications with disbursement, servicing and collections. The delivery included ten modules, mobile access and testing of more than 50 interfaces. Portfolio requirements varied, so the implementation had to accommodate different process flows.

A working core, followed by customization

The project separated standard functionality from requirements-based customization. The standard implementation took six months and went live in April 2019; the published account lists approximately 12 months for customization. These were distinct scopes, not a six-month completion claim for the entire program.

The case reports a five-minute sanction decision for straight-through consumer-durable customers. Other capabilities included configurable routing, verification checks, electronic agreements and a consolidated customer view. The account describes connectivity from application to servicing and collections rather than an isolated approval screen.

What the five-minute result means

A fast route is most useful when eligibility for that route is explicit. An application that meets the lender’s conditions can progress differently from one requiring clarification or a credit officer’s judgement. Treating the two as identical makes both speed and control harder to manage.

The published result concerns sanction, not the time until funds reach a customer. A lender evaluating a similar workflow should keep application completion, decision, agreement and disbursement as separate milestones. Otherwise a quick decision can conceal a lengthy downstream queue.

Measure the exception path too

A useful pilot compares the proportion of eligible applications completing without intervention, the time taken by referred cases and the reasons applications return for more information. Measure each product separately. A simple consumer purchase and a property-backed loan should not share a misleading average.

This story shows how a defined fast path can sit inside a broader lending operation. Its appeal is the combination of an immediate customer decision and a connected process after that decision.

THE PRACTICAL POINT

Define the fast path clearly, and keep the referred cases visible.
